Gen I Lamborghini Gallardo

Produced from 2003 through 2008, the Gen I Lamborghini Gallardo is the first segment of the best-selling model ever offered by the iconic Italian automaker. Like other Lamborghini models, the Gallardo is named after a particularly famous breed of Spanish fighting bull. The V10 powered Gen I Gallardo replaced the Murcielago (V12) and has been succeeded by the Lamborghini Huracan.

Gen II Lamborghini Gallardo

Introduced at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, the Gen II Lamborghini Gallardo (LP 560-4) was touted as a redesign of the popular Gen I Gallardo. Key improvements included an engine upgrade. The even firing 5.0-liter V10 was replaced with an odd firing 5.2-liter V10. The new engine produced 552hp and 398 lb.-ft. of torque using “iniezione diretta stratificata” or a direct fuel injection system. Despite being more powerful than the previous engine, the 5.2-liter has a better (USEPA) fuel efficiency rating and decreased exhaust emissions. The Gen II Lamborghini Gallardo also featured improved transmission choices and a launch control system. Lamborghini said the Gen II Gallardo could accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.7-seconds and had an electronically controlled top speed of 202 mph.

The last Generation II Lamborghini Gallardo was produced in November 2013 for the 2014 model year. It was replaced by the Lamborghini Huracan.
