Porsche 981 Boxster Spyder
Introduced during the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the third-generation Porsche Boxster/Cayman was given then internal Porsche designation 981. The Porsche 981 Boxster/Cayman went on sale in the early summer of 2012.
The Porsche 981 Boxster Spyder made its debut in April of 2015 at the New York Auto Show. As the lightest of all the Porsche models, the Porsche 981 Boxster Spyder utilized aluminum door panels and rear deck lid, lightweight aluminum wheels (20-inch) and a manually operated convertible top for weight reduction. Sharing an exterior aesthetic with its predecessor, the Porsche 981 Boxster Spyder had a canvas convertible top and a twin hump rear boot cover.
Equipped with a 3.8-liter flat-six engine, the Porsche 981 Boxster Spyder was capable of producing 370hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. The Porsche 981 Boxster Spyder could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph on 4.5-seconds with the 6-speed manual transmission. Top speed was 180 mph (electronically controlled).
Porsche 981 Cayman GT4
Presented during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the Porsche 981 GT4 was a high-performance version of the Porsche Cayman lineup. With a lowered ride height (30-millimeters) compared to standard Cayman models, as well as bumper-to-bumper cooling vents, multiple radiators, a limited slip rear differential, Porsche Torque Vectoring, Porsche
Active Suspension Management, upgraded brakes (from the Porsche 991 GT3) and a fixed rear wing, the Porsche Cayman GT4 was obviously designed with competitive driving in mind. An optional Club Sport Package added a rear-half roll cage, a battery cutoff switch, a fire extinguisher, a six-point racing harness and a driver’s HANS device. The Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 was powered by the 3.8-liter flat-six engine that could make 380hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission was the only option for the Porsche Cayman GT4. The Porsche Cayman GT4 could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2-seconds and had a top speed of 183 mph.
