Ford Raptor Generation I (2010-2016)

Stunning the truck culture, Ford introduced the first generation of the high-performance Ford Raptor in 2010. As innovative as it was capable, the Ford F-150 Raptor hit the off-road pickup market like a thunderclap. The Ford F-150 Raptor’s all-terrain tires, mid-travel suspension and standard four-wheel driveline helped to make it the king of street-legal off roading. Its powerful V8 engine options made it an instant hit with performance enthusiasts. The Gen I Ford F-150 Raptor immediately became one of the most desired trucks on the market.

As the off-road version of the Ford F-150 SVT Lightning, the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor adopted styling and performance characteristics found in BAJA desert racing vehicles. Innovative features included Fox Racing internal bypass shocks with external reservoirs, increased ride height (2-inches) over the conventional F-150 4X4, a wider footprint (7-inches) than the normal F-150 4X4, 11.2-inches of front suspension travel and 12.1 inches of suspension travel in the rear. The front lower control arms and rear leaf springs were redesigned specifically for the F-15o Raptor. In 2010, the Ford F-150 Raptor utilized a locking rear end with a 4.10:1 final drive gear ratio, combined with an open front differential. In 2012, the Ford Raptor driveline was upgraded with Torsen helical gear limited slip technology. The Ford F-150 Raptor came equipped with 315/70R17 BF Goodrich KO tires.

The Raptor made a solid first impression with its own front fascia treatment, a composite hood and wider fenders. The Ford F-150 Raptor was initially offered in four colors: Tuxedo Black, Oxford White, Blue Flame, and Molten Orange. A fifth color – Ingot Silver was added in 2011.

Engine options for the Gen I Ford F-150 Raptor included a 310hp 5.4-liter Triton V8 and a 6.2-liter (optional) that was capable of producing 411hp and 434 lb.-ft. of torque. The 5.4-liter engine was discontinued ahead of the 2011 model year. Both V8 engine options for the Ford Raptor were paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
